Chef Chuy Castañeda has a commitment to excellence that starts with his dedication to fresh ingredients and sauces always made from scratch at El Mirasol. Those efforts yield the great tasting food that have made El Mirasol the go to place in the desert for anyone seeking big flavorful plates of fresh, wholesome, traditional foods of Mexico. Chuy's hands on approach to food production means he leads by example and the result is a culinary team that shares his passion for quality. But he very often goes above and beyond with guests at El Mirasol Los Arboles ... like keeping the kitchen open for guests arriving late at the hotel, making breakfast burritos for early departures or packing lunches for hikers headed up the Tramway. This week Chef Chuy was recognized onstage for his excellence at the Palm Springs "Best of the Best" Hospitality Awards held at the Palm Springs Convention Center. Joining him at the event were co-workers from El Mirasol, his lovely wife Flor and their four beautiful daughters. We couldn't be happier to see Chuy get proper respects for the work he does here at El Mirasol.  But we also know that his hospitality spirit comes from the heart and he would do everything exactly the same way, with or without the recognition.
